Happy First Day of School Dragon Families,
We are extremely excited to see so many returning families and to welcome our new families to St. Isidore. As we work through the first day of school, we wanted to send a few information items.
- School begins at 8:30 am and ends at 3:00 pm.
- Attendance will be taken twice a day and tracked, just like in a physical school.
- All virtual classrooms will continue to be on D2L this year
- Live class meets will take place on Microsoft Teams and Google Meets
- Your child’s login will be their student ID number, followed by the first 3 letters of their last name, followed by @wcdsb.ca. (Ex. 55555abc@wcdsb.ca). This YouTube video (https://youtu.be/7UPBveCY9js) will show you how to access D2L.
- Every student will receive a bag of school supplies. If you have not yet picked yours up, please email michelle.coon@wcdsb.ca and let her know. We will arrange for all students to get them asap. Please include your child’s name, grade, and home school.
- If your child still needs a Chromebook, please email karrie.hagar@wcdsb.ca to let her know. Please include your child’s name, grade, and home school.
- Online Forms: Communication will be sent out shortly asking parents to complete all start-up forms on School Cash Online for each child in your family that attends St. Isidore. Please ensure you are registered. The forms are as follows:
- Concussion Code of Conduct
- Responsible Use of Technology Consent JK-3
- Responsible Use of Technology Consent – Grade 4 to 8
- Student Video & Photo Release; Information
- Synchronous Exemptions: If attending synchronous meets poses a challenge for your child, parents may request a Synchronous Learning Exemption. Please consult with your classroom teacher to determine what accommodations will be required. The request is initiated by completing the Synchronous Learning Exemption form. Administration will consult with the classroom teacher, review the request and approve. Please note that a synchronous exemption means that your child will be evaluated on all curriculum expectations on their report card and/or the expectations that are formally identified in their IEP and responsible for completing all class work and assignments.
We are off to a wonderful start and working through various tech issues including connecting to virtual meetings as they surface. We can expect some bumps along road, but we will use our Umbrella Skills and all work together to solve any problems that arise. Please re-read the communication that came from your child’s teacher as this should answer specific questions that you may have pertaining to their classroom. We wish all our Dragon students a fabulous first day of school!!
