Weekly News from the Dragon Nation!
We built on the momentum of week one and had an outstanding second week. Learning is alive and well in all our virtual classrooms thanks to our hardworking staff and students. Thank you to the parents of students involved in our classroom reorganization. Your patience and understanding is appreciated. The changes will allow us to meet the cap of 20:1 in primary and create equitable class sizes that meet ministry requirements. Overall, the changes will prove to be very positive for the school and your child’s learning.
Terry Fox Walk/Run
St. Isidore Catholic School is pleased to be participating in the Terry Fox School Walk/Run Day on Friday, September 23, 2022. Classes will go asynchronous from 2:15 to 3:00 pm and we invite students with their parents if possible to walk/run for as much of the 45 minutes as possible. Together we will commemorate the 42th anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope. We challenge students to take a picture of themselves participating in the event and share the picture with their classroom teacher.
All money raised through our event will be forwarded to the Terry Fox Foundation to further the cause of cancer research. We ask that families use School Cash Online to donate towards the cause.
We hope to continue to keep Terry’s dream to fund a cure for cancer alive. St. Isidore, an ordinary school doing extraordinary things!
Orange Shirt Day
In honour of our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation through Indigenous Education, we will be hosting Orange Shirt Day on September 30th. We recognize the harm residential schools caused to our Indigenous people and we honour those that survived and remember those that did not. We recognize the ongoing effects of intergenerational trauma caused by residential schooling and we wear an orange shirt in support of those who have been impacted by the harm of residential schools. For more information: www.orangeshirtday.org.
